Why Earn an MA in Christian Care through LBC | Capital?

Our world is hurting, and many are in need of a caregiver who has a heart for others. Now more than ever, Christian ministry is a matter of the heart, as people experience a variety of issues and concerns—personal, relational and spiritual. Even among the most sincere and compassionate servants, training and skills are often lacking to deal with problems in the families, couples, adults, youth and children they serve. The convenient, online and engaging Master of Arts Christian Care (MACC) program at LBC | Capital is focused on preparing the head, heart and hands of ministry practitioners to meet individual and collective care needs in the Church and parachurch communities.

The MACC program prepares students to effectively care for those in need, based on Jesus’ ministry and His Scriptures, as well as reliable behavioral science insights and caregiving practices. Graduates are not only equipped to make necessary referrals and train others in Christian caregiving but also develop and deliver effective, complete caregiving that is rooted in biblical truth.

Program Distinctives - What makes LBC | Capital's program unique?
  • Biblical – Every course is created and taught from Scripture as not only the starting point but the authoritative foundation. Therefore, students develop an understanding of people, common problems, caregiving techniques and practices from a biblical perspective.
  • Life-engaged – The program is delivered in a convenient yet engaging online format that allows busy and committed students to complete a Master of Arts in Christian Care from anywhere in the world, without uprooting their life, home, work or ministry. Students participate in an online student community with weekly synchronous learning sessions during each eight-week course.
  • Credible – Courses are taught by experienced professors with biblical, theological, ministry and mental health training. Students learn how to live out their calling through Scripture with useful behavioral science insights, techniques and methods for caregiving.
  • Accelerated – This program is designed to maximize learning while minimizing the time required to complete the degree. As a result, students finish, on average, in two years as determined by their learning pace. Students with relevant previous course work in Bible/Theology can also receive academic advanced standing up to four courses (12 credits). Additional content equivalent coursework will be evaluated for possible transfer credit.
  • Practical – Courses have been designed from a Christian and pastoral care perspective and all topics are explored in this context. There is a significant lab/ministry experience component where students facilitate authentic caregiving sessions while observed, evaluated and mentored by their course professor.
